What’s your story? Who are you? How have you changed throughout your life?
My name is Christy Craig, and I’m a sociology professor at Fort Hays State University. I am conducting a research study to explore how Irish women construct and make sense of their life stories and create their own identity.
Are you an Irish woman who wants to share your life story? I’d like to hear from you.
Volunteer to take part in a study about what being an Irish woman means to you!
The interview will focus on your life story, and what’s important to you when you think about who you are. If you are in the Sligo area, I’d love to sit down and chat over coffee or tea. If you’re outside of Sligo, please don’t hesitate to reach out – I will arrange times in other locations around Ireland as well. These interviews are completely confidential.
If you are interested in participating in an interview, please provide your contact information and availability through this contact form, and I’ll contact you. If you prefer, you can email me at creatingidentity@fhsu.edu. You are not required to be interviewed, and you may change your mind about participating in this study at any time.
I will ask you a set of questions to get our conversation going but you should feel free to refuse to answer any of them and to bring up topics you would like to talk about. The interview will last anywhere from one to two hours, depending mostly on how much you want to talk – in general, interviews last about an hour. The interview will be audio-recorded. Your name will not be associated in any way with the information collected about you or with the research findings from this study. I will use a pseudonym instead of your name. The recording will be protected with a password so that only I will have access to the password-protected files.
If you are an Irish woman over the age of 18, I’d love to hear from you!
The purpose of this study is to explore how Irish women construct and make sense of their life stories and create their own identity. I’m especially interested in learning about what is most important to you as you tell me the stories of your life and what makes you who you are.
